Coconut Juice

This song became my new favorite as soon as I heard it. Just awesomeness all the way through. Play this for yourself tonight I guarantee you will start a private dance party. Hell, invite some friends over and have a real dance party, and let this be one of the feature tracks. Lime in the coconut baby!!!

Oh man, this song is way too much fun. Played this Saturday night with great success. Don't dance too hard.

Beyond the Sea

And now for something completely different.
I think my roommate was listening to the original of this (he's just discovered Pandora Radio), and I realized I have a great remix of it. This song was used to great effect on the Bioshock OST, and if you don't know what is, then congrats, you're not a nerd. In any case, this is a refreshing take on a great big band piece.

What If

I just finished a great book about that was, in part, about Tokyo. It reminded me of a group I loved when I was there, SuiteChic. This song has possibly one of my favorite beats. Whether or not the vocals do it justice, however, is up to you.

Meditation

Eerie chorus in the simplistic beat, and its a bit of harsh flow but overall gets the point across. Last Emp seems a little strange to me, but his flow-focused songs are a low-stress listen and not over-the-top (like the last song).

Fast and Furious (Tokyo Drift)

Back to Tokyo - so much good stuff tonight! I am so generous to all you guys.
Sick beat, slick Japanese (??) flow. I heard the movie sucked, I never saw it.

I'm feeling profound for some reason, and this is one of my favorite raps ever by one a man with a very unique voice and view on things. From The Beautiful Struggle album. Should be the second song on the muxtape.

Sokolata

Keeping it international, here's an awesome remix of a great Greek hit song, which translates to "Chocolate." This is a great dance song made even greater.
I'm also trying out this new site, muxtape. Tell me how it works for you guys.

I Don't Know What I Can Save You From

Rudebox

What exactly is the "rudebox"? That, friends, is for you to find out. This song is unbelievably funky - "take both pills - fuck the Matrix". Samples, shout-outs, references all over the place and a very sick music video. A great showcase of some great dancing.

Solo Por Un Beso

I realized I skipped a day on you guys, so I'm making up with my conscience with another post from the same playlist as the last. Although, if this song is playing hopefully sleeping ain't the first thing you're planning, ::wink wink::
No comment on the video yet, because it's too late.

Hallelujah

Another thing I've been reading about is the concept of the "sublime." Displeasure leads to non-understanding and takes us to the limits of our comprehension, making us appreciate all that is beyond our feeble human capacity. This song may be that damn good.

Tell Me (What You Think Is Going On)

I've been reading Asian American history all night, and it reminded of this duo - which includes an Asian MC, and this catchy song with a romantic flow, nice hook and decidedly average music video. Really enjoyable though, and one of the few Asian MCs to make a splash, if only a small one.

Who The Fuck Is That?

Ok we're getting corny and hip-pop-ish again, but this song is fun, yo. Play this song as you get yourself all done to go out and be a rockstar. Plus I'm legally required to post a song featuring T-Pain, like, 3 times a month.

Arash

This song and corny music video are famous around my parts. As we all know, singing in a foreign language where you have no idea what's being said is just more fun - and this song is perfect for it. Notice also the great piece of dialog at the climax: "It never does, does it?"
Arash is a Persian language artist based in Sweden, and If you can get around to acquiring his self-titled CD, Arash, it is a great listen through and through. You'll probably see more tracks from him around here.

A Break in the Clouds

Tonight things are a little stressful and on the down-low, so I give you this song that I always study or chillax (really) to.
I'd never actually seen the video before, and I don't think this is the official one, but it's pretty hypnotizing.

You all should definitely know this. Go and give her a visit.

Pro Nails

Remember what I said about staying classy?
Play this at your next party and tell me how it goes, I think it's fun (=brainless) enough to rock out to, and Kanye's on it - it's an anthem! Kid Sister's got some moves on her, too, and a funky voice that works with the freneticism (new word) of that weird beat.

Hello!

Hello and welcome to dokodemo.dj's new music blog, called "Music You Should Know". Using my astoundingly good taste in music, I'll be picking out songs, albums, and artists You Should Know. I make no claim on being at the cutting edge on any genre, and you will often get some old school tunes on here, but I will most definitely be able to tell you what you should think is cool. Peace out and enjoy, and for questions, comments and flaming, get me at dokodemo.dj (at) gmail.com.
